While this topic has already been discussed pretty thoroughly by Mrs. Fluckey, I will add my own information on this.
About a year ago, there was a technology committee considering about changing our learning platform for our district. During this time, I discovered that another learning platform had this amazing feature of being able to create different learning paths for students. While I knew that using the platform in this way would be front-loading a TON of work, it could be amazing if I slowly worked on it over the years. I could start small and keep layering on more options. I was so excited for this new learning platform...
...and we decided not to get it. I was crushed (at least for as long as you can be for a learning platform.. I mean it's not like a life or death situation).
With this class, I am now able to create paths of learning my kiddos. I'm not it has all the bells and whistles as the other learning platform, but I am confident that this is going to be an amazing tool to use.
By reading carefully through Mrs. Fluckey's post you'll learn all about how to create those learning paths. These folders and their completion rules can create different paths of learning for the kids and give you clear information about their knowledge and their progress.
Have a student that always skips ahead? You can MAKE them open or complete work before they go to the quiz.
Have a student who is super behind? You can scaffold what they need to do and see their progress through their work.
Technology has a big learning curve, but it has pretty amazing benefits. Given the time and inclination, you have so many ways to help your kids through Schoology.
