I tried using the student completion component within schoology in my 8 FACS class. We are currently talking about eating disorders, so I wanted the kids to first read an article then answer questions about the article. I had three documents in the student completion folder and of course I accidentally ordered them incorrectly and I had schoology set up so the documents had to completed in sequential order.
This obviously caused a problem because schoology was requesting the kids to submit a a reflective essay on what they have learned from watching "To the Bone" before they could open the quiz questions over the eating disorder article. So I thought to myself oh no problem, I'll just go into schoology and reorder the documents and had the kids refresh their computer. But for some reason schoology was still requesting a submission of the reflective essay before they could continue on to the questions. I tried reorder, saving, and refreshing twice before I out smarted schoology. I simply went and unpublished the reflective essay assignment and the kids were then able to access the questions. Problem solved right, nope. Since the kids only had to open the article before they could access the questions most kids figured out real quick that they could access the questions before fully reading the article. You win some, you lose some. I wish their was a secondary option like a document has to be view for a minimum of 15mins before they could open the next document/task.
